Alhamdulillah! As Muslims around the world complete the holy month of Ramadan, we thank Allah for giving us the strength to observe the fast. Ramadan is not merely abstaining from food and drink. It is a period that teaches us patience, discipline, generosity and compassion for others. It reminds us of our responsibility to care for the less fortunate and to strive to become better members of society.

The lessons of Ramadan should continue to guide us long after the month has ended. One individual whose life reflects these values is Sheikh Isahak Seidu Safari (also referred to as Mallam Isahak), a man who has dedicated his life to serving humanity and supporting the development of young people, especially in Zango communities.

Through Nuuru Usmaniyyah Foundation for Humanitarian Services, a non-profit organisation in Accra under the guidance of the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, he has supported and empowered many young people. I am proud to count myself among the beneficiaries of this noble initiative. Through his encouragement, support and mentorship, I developed a strong interest in technology and began to appreciate the power of digital skills in shaping the future of young people. My experience reflects a larger truth: when young people are guided, supported and given opportunities, they can unlock their full potential.

This highlights the role of technology in our world today. We are living in an era where innovation and digital skills are transforming economies and societies. Technology offers us new pathways to education, entrepreneurship and problem-solving. With access to the right tools, training and mentorship, the youth can become drivers of development in their communities. For this reason, governments, institutions and private individuals must invest more in the potential of young people. Supporting youth innovation, digital learning and skills development will not only empower individuals but also strengthen our societies.

At the same time, as we celebrate the blessings of Ramadan and prepare for Eid, we cannot ignore the many conflicts affecting different parts of the world. From the war between Russia and Ukraine, to the conflict in Gaza, as well as the ongoing violence in Sudan, Yemen and Myanmar, many innocent lives continue to be lost. The recent escalation of hostilities involving the United States, Israel and Iran has also raised serious concerns about peace and stability in the Middle East. The global community must continue to pursue dialogue, understanding and peaceful engagement as the best means of resolving differences.

As we mark the end of Ramadan, may we carry forward the lessons of patience, compassion and service to humanity. May we continue to support one another and work towards a more peaceful and just world.Barka da sallah to all Muslims and to everyone celebrating. May this blessed occasion bring peace, unity and renewed hope to our communities and to the world.
